Home School Courses: High School Physics, Physical Science, & Algebra

I am interested in teaching either a college prep high school physics course (using Apologia), or a middle school physical science course for strong math students (using BJUP The Physical World), or possibly both. I would also be interested in teaching Algebra (using Saxon). Courses would be offered on a 15-week semester basis with each course being two semesters. Which course(s) would be offered depends on interest. Either science course would incorporate a “young earth” creation doctrine apologetic throughout.

For the high school physics course, classes would be held once a week for 2 hours; for the physical science course or the Algebra course, once a week for 1½ hours. Classes would be in my home, wh...

High School Geometry with a Twist, errr, Fold

I will be teaching a high school geometry course using (primarily) Patty Paper Geometry, by Michael Serra. Patty Paper Geometry (PPG) is thoroughly hands-on with lots of interaction among students and teacher. This is a one-credit high school course for students who are not seeking the traditional rigorous college prep Geometry course. The learning style of PPG is inductive rather than the traditional deductive approach with its stepwise proofs. This approach lays a sturdy conceptual understanding and develops an intuitive grasp of geometry. Since this type of class requires active participation and cooperation, it is important that the students have positive and teachable attitudes. Discuss PPG with your young person to be sure they unders...

Curtain Call Academy

Category: Enrichment Classes Date Posted: Friday, August 29, 2008 By: Ronnie McKay

We are a Christian based performing arts program offering weekly classes teaching integrated skills in musical theatre, serving Parker and South Aurora. Shelly Terry, the Artistic Director, has 32 years of theater experience and training. Before relocating to Parker she was the Director of The Academy of The Arts for seven years, a Christian based children’s theatre program in Southern California.

At Curtain Call Academy, we focus on fostering spiritual, emotional, mental and artistic growth in first through eighth grade children. Weekly classes are typically 1-1/4 hours in duration. We are currently encouraging home-schoolers in Parker and South Aurora to form groups of 10-20 children who want to learn performance skills using Christian materials within a Christian environment. ...
