This report is from Treon Goossen:
I have been questioned about the new voucher program in Douglas County. As with every public school endeavor, it must be carefully monitored for intrusive policies into the nonpublic realm. Even though this is a voluntary program, the numbers of participants can be used legislatively to suggest all home school and private school students in CO need to take the CSAP and be supervised by the school districts. Regardless of how you feel about this issue - that is fact. I know how the system works in CO. I have been involved for 25 years. The current school board members in Douglas County will not always be there. Just as the majority changes in the state legislature.
I will be carefully watching how this continues to develop in Douglas County. The proposed negative amending to the nonpublic tax credit bill came as a result of the Douglas County voucher program. I could say I told you so, but that wouldn't take away the battle I now face to keep intrusive amendments out of the tax credit bill.
